xTeVe - IPTV for Plex DVR

Reading through the posts, it appears as though others have had a similar problem to me but I cant see anywhere that a solution has been provided.

xTeVe appears to be set up OK, I have built some filters and the web interface is showing 64 XPEG channels available. Setting up the tuner in Plex appears to initially work and the xTeVe EPG loads up OK. However, when I go to watch a program, I get a Playback error stating it could not tune a channel. When I check the LiveTV & DVR settings in the Plex settings, it says device not found.

I have uPnP running on my network and both the Plex server and xTeve are running on the same QNAP NAS.

Any hints or tips on what I need to do to get this running? I’m not particularly technical so havent looked at logs or file-level config settings as I wouldnt know what to look for!

I’m having an issue with reliable recordings. If I have say 5 recordings scheduled for a day, 50% of the time they will all record in full no issues. The other half of the time I’ll get maybe 1 or 2 complete recordings then the 3rd will fail 10-20 mins into the recording, but the stream hasn’t dropped or anything, then also the episodes after will randomly record in segments. Just generally having reliability issues, I thought it was just plex but if I restart my Xteve service I get another few days without any issues. I’ve tried everything I can think of to improve reliability does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Trying to catch my logs next time it fails but its hard to catch them at the right time.

Thanks in advance for any tips, when it works reliably it’s great and have no other issues I couldn’t figure out on my own or reading through other’s posts.

I already watch direct OTA tv on plex, using HDhomerun and OS X Mojave.
I would like to use also a m3u playlist.
I start xteve in terminal using ./xteve command and I always get this error message: [ERROR] listen udp4 xxx.x.x.x:xxxx: bind: address already in use () - EC: 0
The xxxx port, is hdhomerun port.
So it seems that hdhomerun prevent xteve to start.
What can I do?
(Sorry for my english, it is not my language)

You need to create another DVR device in Plex and connect it to xTeve
So you will have 2, one for OTA and one with xTeve

Hi…
Am i missing something here? I can’t add xteve DVR in plex anymore. I enter the url and port etc, it finds it…no probs.
But, I can’t steer it away from selecting Cable, and country…I used to be able to at some point add the xml url details etc…I can’t do that now.

I have an option to scan channels, but it will just moan at me and say’No channels found. Make sure your device has a signal from your antenna and try scanning again.’
If I add ā€˜Cable’ and ā€˜Country’…I can’t continue.

I’m stuck.

Am I doing something really stupid here?

thnx

Oh wow, I thought I was going crazy! I have the exact same problem. Sometimes I do have the tuner with channels and can click next and get stuck there. But mostly stuck at the exact same dialog as you.
No matter how many restarts, log clearing, temp dir cleaning.

What’s your PMS version? Mine is: 1.19.3.2843

I found I had to unplug my HDHomeRun and restart the PMS to get it to show up

ok…i’ve figured it out…and i was being dumb.

I had applied a filter, and it was knocking all my channels out…so xteve had no channels to make available.

I removed all filters. refreshed playlist and xmltv…then re-added back in plex again and it found it.

what a numpty…

I am interested in knowing a few things.
I downloaded and install Xteve on my Windows plex server.
My IPTV provider gives me 5 devices.

So I would like to know first is there any reason why I should install Xteve on its own server?
Should I use the default settings for streaming which is No Buffer, or use one of the other three; is there a best option?
What does ffmpeg give me over vlc?
Should the Buffer Size stay at 1MB, is there a sweet spot for people who have 5 tuners?

My config is:
I am using Xteve version 2.1.2.
Running on Windows 2016 Server.
IBM x3550 M3.
64GB of RAM, dual 5675 CPUs.
C: is running SSD’s.

Thanks,

Hi there,

I’m using Plex on my DS415+ and I also have set up xTeVe as an Docker-Container on that NAS. Everytime when I try to set up a Tuner in Plex he find immediately my router (Fritz.Box) which also provides an DVB-C tuner. I have to input the IP and Port of my xTeVe to find it. But it switches back to the tuner of the router after 2 seconds so that I’m not able to set up xTeVe in Plex correctly. Can you help me?

I am having no joy with the Streaming I cant find any channels. I added the m3u files correctly and the XML file from https://iptv.memorial/EPG.xml!

error|690x542

Help me your my only hope.

Have you tried to play them directly, like with VLC player to verify the channel?

Check the mapping section of xteve. That xml is formatted as such that I bet none of the channels are mapped. You’ll have to do them all manually and then readd the Plex DVR. You xteve log should indicate this as well

That was the issue. super annoying lol. I am going to see if there is an easy way of parsing this.

Not without using a 3rd party EPG service. That epg they are supplying doesnt look like it has any channel ID’s in it. TVG-ID

I’ve also never seen a provider give out EPG data like that unprotected, usually its behind your login/password just like the m3u

If I’m using a 3rd party EPG service like m3u4u.com… and, the XMLTV ID changes… is there anyway see that change in xteve? If so, how?

If not, how can I edit the XMLTV ID in xteve?
