Plex used for 4 years on Roku without a problem. Then found CBS channel unpopulated. Reloaded CBS. No joy. Removed and reloaded Plex. After successfully linking Plex server on Windows, got the message: “your credentials have expired. please sign in again.” Uninstalled Plex server and reinstalled it on the Windows 7 OS, shut down and restarted the computer. Using Roku, reinstalled Plex on Roku. Same result.
Reviewed this topic on the forum but didn’t find a solution.
CBS is a plugin that Plex does not support so the only route you have is through the developer of the app.
However Plex is in the process of removing plugin support so it is going away sooner rather than later. I would suggest finding another way to view CBS that does not violate CBS’s TOS.
I am having the same problem. The plex app is broken on all of my Rokus. No matter how many times I link the account I get “your credentials have expired. I payed the $9.95 for the extra services for plex. If your product is broken please either fix it or refund my money
Plex support just isn’t getting the job done. My post has been up a week without a solution being offered.
I’m now accessing the CBS channel using Chromecast. The other channels I used through Plex I’m now accessing directly on Roku. I’d say Plex is joining Blackberry in the technology trash.
I am working around it for now by simply not logging in. I have things setup to only allow insecure connections from my home internal network.
This needs to get fixed and soon, I agree. Sad that it is not being addressed in an expedited manner, given the Roku is one of the most used streaming boxes out there.
Also, I wanted to add a reply to keep the thread going
After reading your post, I tried Plex that was still installed on my Roku, and what to my wondering eyes did appear but a working channel without any sign-in request! I installed the CBS Channel(not the Access version) and it populated, working fine without any commercials appearing in the programs, all for free. What happened??? Plex apparently fixed the problem, at least on my system. Why didn’t they bother to tell us they fixed it? Embarrassed, I guess. So I won’t bother to say ‘thanks’. And their comment about the CBS Channel no longer being supported wasn’t accurate, for now, at least.
Interesting fact.
There is no reason for anyone who owns one of the most popular streaming devices out there, The Roku Lineup, to waste a penny on a Plex Pass, since it is pointless without being able to login.
