I’ve had this problem for awhile but never had the time to investigate the issue, however, tonight I tried to find the cause. So far, I’ve been unsuccessful in finding a solution.
An example of my problem is a follows…
When I record the TV show “NOVA”, it records just fine, names the folders and files correctly, but is mismatched in the UI.
My question is, I have no idea where it is pulling this mis-information from as TheTVDB doesn’t even show that as an episode anywhere in S39 nor that an episode of NOVA was ever aired on February 8, 2012 (as seen above). I’ve tried searching to see if I could find the episode in the TVDB, but was unsuccessful.
This type of error seems to always occur on this show as well as several others. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Plex uses The TVDB once a recording is completed to match for the show information. TheTVDB never seems to match episode information for Nova correctly, have seen differences between TheTVDB, IMDB, Wikipedia, and PBS site. One episode I researched for another user had 4 different sets of information for the same show. As I mentioned in the post referenced TheTVDB is a community maintained site that allows anyone to edit details for shows, unless someone has locked the show/season. I have mentioned this fact on several posts regarding Nova. Until a user that records Nova and wants the information to be accurate creates an account on TheTVDB and takes the time to edit the information it will always be inaccurate.
Yeah, I understand the TheTVDB is community supported, but I guess my question is rooted in the fact that TheTVDB HAS the correct information and the filename was properly named, but in-correctly matched in the UI.
How would that even occur and where in TheTVDB is NOVA for S39E14 titled Separating Twins?
@johnm_ColaSC I did see that, but the other values (such as the title) that I care more about IS correct.
I’m just trying to understand how it is populating the UI with incorrect information.
I know that some metadata comes from Gracenote and then after recording Plex is supposed to fill in other data from TheTVDB. Seems like the picture comes from TheTVDB definitely but not sure how the title or original air date are filled in. I setup Nova to record , I see this same episode is scheduled to record on Sunday. Will try to report back what my system shows.
