Error: DVR/Plex assigns incorrect episode information to NOVA PBS episodes

So…Plex is not assigning the right show descriptions to over the air recorded broadcasts of PBS’s NOVA…

I just recorded a show last night, the** file name **is correctly established as “NOVA (1974) - S39E14 - Mystery of Easter Island”

imdb also correctly lists this show the same way at Nova (TV Series 1974– ) - Episode list - IMDb as “Mystery of Easter Island”

Unfortunately, Plex thinks it is E14, “Assigning Twins”…despite the file name being “NOVA (1974) - S39E14 - Mystery of Easter Island.ts” as seen below.

Can someone correct the Plex database of shows to reflect the correct alignment of episodes to episode names?

TV shows aren’t matched against IMDB, but against TheTVDB, which points to the episode it’s pulled data from. (See here: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=76119&seasonid=472922&id=4242377&lid=7)

You can, however, always rename the file to match TVDB :smile:

Plex uses TheTVDB for TV Show information. As I have suggested on several other threads for Nova anyone can create an account on TheTVDB and update information on the site. TheTVDB is a community maintained site so if the information is inaccurate, which every instance of Nova I have seen referenced on on the Plex forum has been incorrect, it can be changed by a user that wants to take the time to update it. If no one wants to take the time to correct it then it will stay inaccurate for all users.

@bdlamprecht Did you look at the episode on TheTVDB. The image is shown there along with what user uploaded the image.

Yeah, I edited that one to correct it. That’s why the picture doesn’t match, apparently special permission is required to change the picture.

Unfortunately, ALL of the Nova eps are “wrong” in TheTVDB.com
