just bumping up the topic to remind people who forgot to like this request… if you have some lossless files and want to stream on the road, your data-plan would not last more than a week (thanks to german providers an their thrifty and expensive bandwidth offers)
I vote for this as well. This is the main reason I still use spotify when I am on the go, streaming my lossless music would just eat the data I can use per month on 4g/3G.
I’m using Google Music now instead of Plex for music as it has this very option. Sound quality is still very good but saves bandwidth and my updated phone still doens’t have microsd to sync all music just in case…
This feels like a simple’ish feature to add, mirroring video options ‘On Wifi’ ‘On Remote’ set a bitrate as flac over 4g is just a waste of bandwidth.
damn you are right. just made the test with an 40mb audio-file.. i misinterpreted “remote qualitiy”. Maybe because this was announced a new feature within the “changes-info” in the AppStore and, more important, there was already an option for SYNC-Quality (low-mid-high). So i thought REMOTE quality means streaming (else it should have been named sync?!)
But just to let you know, here is a screenshot… its not the common quality option when adding a some audio for sync… so what is this for?! Another preference for sync-quality would be useless because you can set it right when syncing.
Didn’t recognised this before because currently i am into audiobooks (via iTunes).
And the most important: still need this feature!
(immediately after audiobook-support)
i am with you. imho thy should have used the resources for that cloud-thing for music enhancements. beside the copyright issues - for my media i got a NAS to have my data at my place, not to store them in a cloud. but thats another topic. Nobody needs to know when i am listening to the Hoff
This update will be a big deal for people using music via Plex.
Probaly not a lot of votes, just becuase a lot of people doesn’t use Plex for music because of this small important features.
