I love Plex on my Qnap, but listening to my music when I’m on the road cost me a lot of my data plan. Could there be a feature to choose the quality of sound?
A choice between 32 kbps, 64 kbps, 128kbps, 320 kbps would be great! Sometimes, for example on a bus or train 64 kbps would do as noise. Later in my hotelroom I would chose 320 kbps through the tv in the room.
I hope I made clear what i’n thinking about. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Which client type?
The mobile apps feature a setting ‘Music Quality - Remote streaming’ which goes currently as low as 96kbps.
I have found and used the 96 kbps for a year now. I’m from Europe and in a other country it still eats away a lot of my data plan. Is it so hard to bring it down to 32 or even 24kbps?
We listen to Dutch radio stations on 24kbps and seems good enough on our JBL-GO2.
Plexamp at least allows you to go down to 64 kbps. Maybe try that one for music instead.
I tried Plexamp but I stil prefer Plex on my iPhone. But a switch would reduce my data use with 30%.
Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (remote audio quality option per client)
