Choosing to Use Video Preview Thumbnails Per Library Item

LOVE the Video Preview Thumbnails. So great! but, because they can be large I was wondering if there was a way to enable/disable them per library item. FOr example, in my TV Library, Its totally worth the disk space to add images to my collection of The West Wing because I watch it often. Its not worth it to generate previews for Spongebob Squarepants, as my child tends to watch the episode without skipping.

The same for movies. I might want it enabled on Star Wars, but generating video previews for Billy Madison is a waste.

I know we can control whether or not to apply video previews at the library level, but I’d like finer grain control over it.

+1

I would also like to add to this that having the option to generate preview thumbs when midea is added ONLY. Currenty your options are “as a schedule task or as a scheduled task and when media is added” or “as a scheduled task”.

This would allow me to generate thumbs for new media which will most likely be watched soon. Then when disk space becomes a problem I can wipe all generated thumbs, and start over with newly added content.

EDIT
One additional thing about the “as media is added” request; if there was a series that was already added and you did want thumbs for it, you could just go to that series and Analyze, and get your thumbs that way.

bumping this. Please like the original post to vote. I’ve gotten used to this feature in Netflix but with them loosing more and more content all the time that I watch continuously I move more and more to Plex. However, I’ve got such a big library and there are only a certain number of series for which I need the previews.

I also like the idea of generating the thumbnails on demand for one series as the series I want preview thumbnails for already exist.
