[Feature Request] Music: Multiple artists

Bit late to the party, but I saw the update about the improved music management. Scanning is delightfully fast now, so I can actually start using it.

Quite often, and especially in the world of Jazz, you get collaborations between different artists. Unfortunately, traditional media tagging has never been good at taking this into account. So collaboration albums get lumped into a single “artist”, like “Stan Getz & Kenny Barron”. Even though media tags don’t support multiple artists, it would be nice if the Plex library could do so, maybe using the same input as for tags.

Actually the ID3 specification does state that the Artist field may contain multiple artists, separated by a slash “/”. So this is a deficiency in Plex’s handling of the tag specification.

The link in @oxguy3 post did not work for me, but I still vote thumbs up to have Plex add these feature. In fact, I am quite surprised to see that “Stan Getz/Kenny Barron” is handled as if it was the full name of a single artist!

I vote also for this useful feature.

The privilege of voting on feature requests is one of the documented benefits of the Plex Pass subscription. That doesn’t mean Plex doesn’t pay attention to the comments in the free areas of the forums.

I would also love to see this feature. I would love to see the a album of the multiple artist show up under all the artist album view.

I, too, vote for proper handling of multiple artists on a single Album, and ideally do this for songs.

I’ll join the party - using Plex as the music library without this capability is tough

No, but now everyone can vote (no Plex Pass needed).

Since all votes were lost in the forum changeover, I took the opportunity to create a feature request for full support of all the tags needed for fully managing a music library. Please add your vote if you agree.
