I have a music collection that I’ve currated and spent too many hours tagging it correctly.
I recently semi switch to plex for my remote music needs, it works somehow well except this frustrating issue.
For example, I use the custom tag “label” to tag collaboration between artists.
I store these collaboration under their albums artist release name, and tag them with multiple labels.
With the help of minimserver tagging, it permits me to have quickly access to this collab from the album artist, or having access to collab release from one of these artist (+ their works) or only their works without collabs.
Plex parse the tag but process it as one.
A more concrete exemple, the collabs between Alstroemeria Records & DiGiTAL WiNG are released under “Alstromeria Records x DiGiTAL WiNGS”.
Plex parse my tags as
Album Artist: Alstromeria Records x DiGiTAL WiNGS
Label: Alstromeria Records;DiGiTAL WiNGS
Minimserver parse the Album Artist as is, and store their album under two different labels.
I’ve recorded a small video of my use case., I will try to upload it.
This use case might be pretty unique to me, but I’m sure a lot of people would like to be able to tag multiple artists, performer, vocalist, etc …
Requests for the same feature exist already, with more votes.
