December 16:
More logs, this time in 1.3.3.3148.
Same issue as before with nothing uploading.

Soon after it finishes the conversion process, it will attempt to upload, but only getting as far as 1% before stopping. Multiple instances of it failing can be seen within the log files.

Even though it does say “Finished uploading”, looking at the drive itself shows there is nothing new actually added from that session.

December 15:
After about a week of uploading things normally with minimal issues in 1.1.4, I decided to update to 1.3.2.3112…
The latest version of PMS still does not allow any content to upload to Amazon.

Again: This was after a week of uploading while in the build that was PRE-“STREAMING BRAIN”.

The only issues that I have had uploading was one of an older issue wherein a file that takes too long to upload will not sync (in my case, files that are above 6.5GB after conversion). Not sure if that was fixed in builds post-1.1.4, but cannot check for obvious reasons.

I was able to upload / sync over 30 files with no issue and without “bad duplicates” (ones that are missing thumbnails and not associated with any synced content) on the Amazon Drive itself while in 1.1.4.

There are of course the files that did not sync, but were uploaded that were greater than 6.5GB. That bug has been described in detail within the above link.

Logs can be found in this post:

November 10:
Build 1.2.7.2987 will not allow any content to upload.

Last build to at least sync some content was 1.1.4.2757 which can be found here:
https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.1.4.2757-24ffd60/Plex-Media-Server-1.1.4.2757-24ffd60-en-US.exe

For steps on how to downgrade PMS, please see this post:

Logs from the latest build (1.2.7.2987) can be found within this post:

The issue of only a small fraction of content being synced still occurs within any previous build.

Additionally, Roku 3s are unable to play any content synced to the cloud.
Locally streamed content plays fine.
This also is regardless of PMS build, and appears tied to a Roku update.

September 30:
For a couple days now, it seems that most of what I try to upload to my Amazon Drive appears to be constantly failing for some reason. I haven’t changed anything on my end and the files that are failing is very inconsistent.

I don’t mean this is giving a “Failure to Upload” message, I just mean that I’ll watch a file hit 100% only for it to repeat the same file. Then that will finally have it moving on to the next one, but with the previous file still saying “Waiting to be Uploaded”.

I’m seeing a lot of the following within the logs:

Each of the files are under 500MB after conversion, so not sure what’s going on here. I’ve even checked the drive itself just to make sure it isn’t still uploading like I’ve seen in the past, and it definitely is not. My settings are still the same from when it worked perfectly.
I am on the current latest version of 1.1.4.2757-24ffd60.

Been trying to get these files to upload and slowly getting them synced. If this was a week ago, then these files would have already been done, the timing for when all of this started is odd considering it coincides with the reveal of Plex Cloud (of which I didn’t get into the beta); this is probably just a coincidence, but it still is strange nonetheless.

I noticed that quite a few of the files were actually uploaded to the drive itself despite still saying that these were “Waiting to be Uploaded”. I downloaded a good portion of them to figure out what they matched up to, and each one was in a perfectly playable quality. This doesn’t seem to be the same issue that I’ve seen before as, like I said above, each of these files are under 500MB and “upload” fairly quickly.

I don’t have any good logs for this instance, but will have it attempt uploading the remaining files throughout the night and will grab the logs in the morning.

This time, I took 6 of the files that didn’t upload and let them attempt to sync throughout the night.

Out of those 6, only 3 synced.

All 6 are on my Amazon Drive though, so they did upload, but those other 3 are still marked as “Waiting to be Uploaded”.

Grabbed the brand new logs from that session.

is there a page that explains how Cloud Sync works? I sync’d my amazon account but not sure how the sync’ing actually begins. CANCEL REQUEST FOUND IT.

Not what I thought. I thought it would sync the library vs. subset.

Totally exited about this feature BTW

My topic is about an issue that I am encountering and trying to figure out how to fix it. If you want to ask a question, then best to create your own topic, though I’ll actually answer your questions.

Cloud Sync and Plex Cloud are two very different things.
Cloud Sync is where Plex Media Server will convert your local files and uploads them to your virtual drive.

Once that is done, then “Cloud Sync” will show up as an option when you are on any Plex app.

Plex Cloud is where you have to upload your files yourself and then Plex will act like a server all from within your drive and is currently only accessible through registering for the beta and being of the lucky few to receive the invite.

I’m having this issue as well. Also using Amazon Drive for the sync provider. I have the folder created but no files have been uploaded.

You probably should grab your logs from when you were trying to upload those files. Then they can compare with my log files and see if there are any similarities.

do you have a 2nd sync or copy running in the background on a PC I get this issue only when syncing from two different PC’s at the same time. I killed one of the copy’s and the issue went away

Nope, just the one machine and one version of the file.

Moved over 11 files (using the 6 left from before), each one is uploaded when looking at the drive itself, but only 7 are synced.

Hi,
The rate limits are tangentially related the the release of Plex Cloud. We are working with Amazon to resolve this and expect to have a resolution shortly.

Sounds good.

I do have another batch of logs; I’ve been trying to get things to finish uploading since it still always seems to upload some, though this time it didn’t upload anything.

The messages in the log are claiming that the files are “already synced” when that isn’t the case. They are still shown to have the “Waiting to be Uploaded” tag in PMS itself and nothing new has been added Amazon Drive in the last 10 hours that I’ve had the server running.

Haven’t been able to try and upload anything in the past week, but was able to run the server last night to see what happened.

Nothing uploaded.
Same messages as in my above post about the content being “already synced” despite it actually not being synced or even on the drive at all.

I am using the latest version of PMS from October 4th.

Going to revert to the build I was using when I first made the topic and see if things upload again. Even if it is 30% of the time that it is syncing, it would be better than having nothing at all.

https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.1.4.2757-24ffd60/Plex-Media-Server-1.1.4.2757-24ffd60-en-US.exe

With the downgrade back to the above version, I can upload again.
It still is hit or miss on what actually works though.

I set up 10 for this batch.
Out of those 10, only 6 synced.
Out of those 6 that were synced, only 4 can actually be played.

When I look at what is on the Amazon Drive, I see 8 different files. When I download the files on my Amazon Drive that are not synced or won’t play through Plex, they all play fine locally.

And yes, that is not a typo.
8 different files are on the drive from this batch while Plex only has 6 counted as “Synced”.

Interestingly, the order as to what is uploaded and works swaps during this batch.

1, 3, 5, 7 all play fine and are counted as synced.
2, 4, 6, 8 either won’t play via Plex or are still “waiting to be uploaded”.

Ratio seems to have improved lately with about 1 in 10 not syncing. I still see duplicates on the drive which I have just been clearing out myself by checking with the filename listed in the XML for each of the synced content.

Seemed to have spoken too soon.

Batch of 9.
7 uploaded.
5 synced.
4 worked.

Still having issues, though also seeing some more.

Since this issue began, I’ve noticed a higher number of videos no longer playing from Cloud Sync through the Roku 3 app.

Videos seem to always say “Does not Support Transcoding” or “Does not support Direct Play” despite it working in the Windows app. Tried every single option to no success.

Any status update?
I’ve been keeping track of what’s been going on for almost a month now with what seems like no fix in sight or any updates on what’s going on.

I even re-updated to the Oct 4 build of Plex, but going back to that build also meant going back to nothing being uploaded.

Is Cloud Sync going to be fixed or just removed with Plex Cloud then replacing it? Reason being that Cloud Sync worked fine within 1.1.4.2757 until Plex Cloud was made public. After the unveiling, it would just sync every once in a while.

1.2.2.2857 definitely made it worse as it simply will not upload anything. Already tested by me downgrading previously and then returning to the “spotty” uploading as that was definitely far more preferable to having nothing at all upload.

Grabbed some more logs with build 1.2.2.2857. I even changed a few settings away from default just to get this build to hopefully do something, but it doesn’t change things in the slightest. Logs were grabbed with default settings.

Hi @xSean ,
Good to read through all your updates. I’m surprised a ninja hasn’t chimed in yet!

I have the exact same problem! Logs attached. All your observations are true for me too. Files upload to Amazon but Plex still lists them as Waiting to Upload. In some cases, Plex has uploaded the same file multiple times, resulting in multiple files on Amazon’s side but still not recognized as uploaded.

Are you able to move this post to “General Discussion (Plex Pass)” - that seems to be where others have posted about this same issue and seem to be getting a little more attention.

I’m seeing a slightly different upload failure message in my logs. Not sure what it means?
