Did I mention that I'd be willing to beta test such a German skill? Here you go...

Cheers.

My plex settings:

16TB QNAP PMS, 8 TB Buffalo Win2k12 PMS - 3x FireTV(2nd gen), 1x Android tablet, 1x Samsung S6 (Music, Movie, TV show libraries)

My "small" feature wishes:
-* multiple parallel filters using an advanced mechanism (AND/OR/NOT) combine different categories when using filters
-* better collection (not only as a meta tag, movie grouping, searchable)
-* user defined meta tags which can be assigned to standard tags but which do not get lost when updating the data (example) [I want to add "James Bond" to all James Bond movie titles without marking the titles as not changable; I would add information on different versions (Uncut, Extended, DC) of a movie to the movie title, I would like to add the role of a character, I want to add a user defined collection name without marking the standard field as not changable]
-* flag to limit my search to the actual library which I am in when doing a search
-* German plex skill for Alexa

Hey everyone. Interest in a German Alexa Skill has certainly grown and for sure the team has taken notice. They're working on some key (and highly requested) features and functionality improvements and after speaking with them today it is clear there is interest in this area once they get through the current items being developed. I'll try to keep you guys updated on if this will be worked on, but won't be able to disclose priority or ETA.

If it helps with skill creation, I'd be happy to provide more alternatives to even make it better/more flexible.
I am not yet happy with the standard/default server phrases in German, for example.

If you have alternative phrasing for the utterances, please add them here and I will append our internal issue tracking this.

Okay, then let me get a bit more into "real world" German language as you speak it.

There is no "perfect" direct translation in German to "Ask Plex to..."

I stated that the German passphrase would be "Frage Plex"...

The following German variants are fully valid to "ask Plex to" and "tell Plex to"...

"Frage Plex nach", "Frag Plex nach", "Sage Plex...", "Sag Plex", "Beauftrage Plex", "Beauftrage Plex damit", "Befehle Plex", "Befiehl Plex", "Bitte Plex", "Bitte Plex darum"

Ask Plex to Play the movie XY -
1 - Bitte Plex darum, den Film XY zu spielen
2 - Bitte Plex darum, den Film XY abzuspielen

In this case, the "darum" is sometimes used, but not necessary.
"zu" means "to" but in the word "abspielen" it is used integrated: "abzuspielen" while with "spielen" it is used "to Play" as "zu spielen".

3 - Beauftrage Plex, den Film XY abzuspielen
4 - Beauftrage Plex damit, den Film XY zu spielen

With "Beauftrage" the word "damit" is used sometimes, but not necessary.

5 - Sage Plex "Spiel / Spiele den Film XY ab"

If you are using "Play" as a command like in "Tell Plex: Play the movie XY" the verb "spielen" is used as "Spiel" and possibly with a trailing "e" as "Spiele"... the word "abspielen" would be split and the "ab" part would be used AFTER the object that is going to be played.

6 - Sage Plex, es soll den Film XY abspielen / spielen

"Tell Plex to"... again, no good direct Translation... "Here I used" "Tell Plex that it should do xyx"
Instead of "Sage", you can definitely also say "Sag" (without the trailing "e").

7 - Befiehl Plex, den Film XY zu spielen / abzuspielen
8 - Befehle Plex, es soll den Film XY abspielen

In this case (commanding)... "Befiehl" is correct German, but most users that I know would instinctively use "Befehle" instead....
As above "es soll" means "it shall" / "it should"

I hope that makes the complexity of German language a little clearer, but it is still possible to do a good job with combining these passphrases with the rest of your commands.

In German, it is easy to have a dozen variants of "Tell Plex to" ... "Ask Plex to" alone. You will only get good results if taking care of most or all of them.

Get in contact with me if I should check/edit any json or XML files ;)

Thx for the Update on this. And no imminent Release.
Frustrating to say the least to not be able to test/play with Alexa and plex.
Plex Support was one of the Main reasons to buy the dot. And now again this.

Great, better sugar-coat the english version before we even get basic german functionality (which would be really easy to implement). And about "additional" languages, Alexa only supports english and german.

The dev team is doing more behind the scenes than just sugar coating the language by adding new phrases and such. They're focusing on performance and reliability improvements, too.

Need to fix the existing skill before they get all the Germans in an uproar too.
