Plex for Alexa - German Plex Pass Beta

Today we’re incredibly excited to launch the Plex Pass beta for our German Plex for Alexa skill. We’ve been running a private beta for the last few months with a small group of users who have been helping us translate things. We’ve been working hard to incorporate their feedback and test the new build of our skill.

Starting today we want to make this skill open to Plex Pass users who would like to help us test and troubleshoot in the run-up to certification. Please note that due to beta test size restrictions on the part of Amazon we don’t have an unlimited number of beta slots. We’ll send invites out as long as we have them available.

Testing

Sign up here: https://goo.gl/forms/BnyjYPMaePOZ3Dpz1
Please note that we manually entitle account from this form so you won’t be immediately added to the beta. We’ll add signups in batches throughout the day.

Please provide feedback in this thread. I’ll be active here answering questions and offering support.

Once your Amazon account has been added to the beta pool you can opt-in via this link rather than wait for an email.

Known Issues (updated December 3, 2018)

  • We’re also testing a brand new media playback user experience for all languages. There are some German specific edge cases we’re still working on.

  • Remote control of music is currently broken. This will be fixed before launch.

I’ve just added the first bunch of beta applications to the skill.

Thanks @vanstinator !

Are you able to share a list of german commands with us?

thanks

You can get the gist of the features here. The translators added support for a few different german grammars. There’s still some ongoing work to flesh them out further so if anything feels clunky let us know and we’ll work to accommodate it.

I’d also like to note if anyone has some Alexa experience and would like to help translate send me a DM.

I’ve added another round of applications to the beta skill. Please check your email for invites!

Checked and got one. Skill activated and then I was a bit astonished that it connected to my Plex account without any need to type in anything (Cookies from my other logins I guess). Can’t test right now because still @ work. Will check later at home.

EDIT: Soo, took a while, but now the first tests. I tried for example to get it play Season 3 Episode 1 of Overlord on my PC. So I said “Alexa, sage Plex: Spiele Overlord, Season 3 Folge 1 auf Reimi-PC” First thing. It hates Season as wording here. With it used it tries to play some album somewhere on my Plex and from there a christmas song. When I try “Staffel” 3 meaning the german wording it does a more correct behavior. Then it starts the last played Episode of Overlord anime, in my case Season 0 Episode 26. Changing to “Episode” from “Folge” does not really change that. Sometimes it hops to “The Overlord” (didn’t even know I have that series ^^). I tried a german title, too. Some here might still know “Löwenzahn” and here I tried the same sentence as above and it always wants to play Season 1 Episode 7 instead of Episode 1. I think that was one after the last one I watched
So there might be the problem that some of my calls are not correct or it just behaves wrong.

I tried music, too. It plays really nice on my Alexa, but the line after the interpret is ignored I guess? I always plays on Alexa for me and not on my PC (“auf Reimi-PC”)

the first thing i noticed is that it ignores the preferred speaker preference and i found no way to give it a target speaker.

it always plays directly on the echo dots instead of the sonos speakers in the same room.

Maybe you can check on your mobile device what alexa understood last… Just to distinguish between “I pronounced not correctly” and “I was interpreted wrong”.

For me, on android, i can open the menu in the alexa app and choose “Aktivität” this will show me a chat with the latest recognitions of Alexa…

Unfortunately AudioPlayer skills don’t use any of those features. Playback is limited to the device the intent was initialized on.

The beta invites should have gone out to anyone who has signed up now. Please click here to opt in if you haven’t already.

Currently sitting in the home theater and trying to remember where i last time saw the German command overview…
Do you have a little help?
One suggestion could be following your link which leads to the English commands and then try to use these commands in German language…
As for a more collaborative work we should then somewhere note the found commands…
Just here in this thread? Or you have a share point?

Hey guys, I would love to test the beta Skill for Alexa. How long do you guys have to wait before the Plex team did approve you for the beta skill?

They are rolling out in waves… Some days are common…

I have wondered too how long is does till i get a mail. But after i have checked the link “opt-in via this link” in the post from @vanstinator, i see that i was already invitet for the beta test. Maybe you must check the link and don´t wait for a mail

It seems when we add another wave of signups into the invite system Amazon isn’t always sending an email. So if in doubt click the opt-in link in the OP. If you’ve been invited the link should let you in. Otherwise just be patient and you’ll likely get an invite sooner or later
