Rescan ID3 Tags?

Anyone know how to rescan ID3 tags for music files? I’ve found this article, but couldn’t get it to work.

Did I do something wrong? Is there another (easier) way to do it? I’ve been going back through my library and correcting bad tags and would really love the ability to be able to change them and have Plex pick it up. Not sure why there is no option to do this currently.

I am aware of that. Problem is I’ve made changes to probably hundreds of files and not sure which ones I’ve changed. I really would just like to rescan the whole music library.

Then either perform the procedure with all of them (though in this case it migh be easier to just erase and recreate the library itself)
or take a look at their file date/time stamp.

What would be the easiest way to do this for my entire music library? I tried renaming the music folder and doing the Plex dance, renaming it back and doing an update and it didn’t work. There has got to be a way to update mp3 metadata and get Plex to pick it up without having to do all this; this is ridiculous.

Currently, there is unfortunately no way.

I started what turned out to be a pretty long discussion about this. The bottom line is, Plex doesn’t think a non-functioning Refresh feature is a bug, even though the workaround for it (the Plex Dance) is data-destructive.

Yeah, this is sad, because to me it’s practically mandatory. It seems to me it wouldn’t be that hard to have an option to refresh metadata… actually there is, but it actually doesn’t even rescan the id3 tag.
