Would love to see the ability to create tagged libraries. Most of us have two main video folders, Movies and TV Shows. Some of us would love to have a library that was a filtered list such as “Kids Movies”. Now all the files themselves will remain in the main “Movies” folder. I am aware of creating a new Library and symlinking ( youtube.com/watch?v=uBeOcqSi30o ) the movies over to a new folder but that is not ideal for 90% of people that would like a point and click easy method.
I have attached screenshots of how I think it should look/function. It will work similar to tagging “Collections” but movies and/or shows tagged could be filtered in a custom Library that would show up on all clients.
It’s not super ideal but it works very well once you have it setup. You can run the script via cron or Windows scheduler so it feels like it’s built in.
I still use this technique for different Holiday movies Libs I build for different times of the Year (Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc), for Documentaries and for “Recommended” which rotate. To the end user and their client it’s a dedicated library they see but on the server side it’s an automated way of controlling symlinks based on LABELS/TAGS you setup. No additional storage is needed for these “Virtual Libraries” and control it by adding tags/labels to your videos.
