Custom Independent config files for movies/shows

Hello all,

First off, I was not able to find any request for this. A lot of custom stuff was requested but no config file of such.

What I would like to see is config files (XML maybe) that Plex can extract custom data for each movie or tv based series that will supersede any or mostly all online content pertaining to the movie/series. This will also include music, photos, and home movie libraries.

The config file could include a plethora(yeah, I used it) of information such as series ordering, episode naming, artwork, synopsis, air dates, etc…

I mean, I love the online sources but I do find that the sources change the content from time to time causing issues with current layouts. We are at the moment at the mercy of the online sources.
To have the ability to sort or correct inconsistent/unavailable content would better. Give us more control.

.nfo importer agents

Aww sh*t, a Plug-in? That is not at all what I had mind as a solution. Also, that plug-in looks like it retrieves metadata from one(local) or the other(online) not both. I guess this request is blown out of the water…

The newest version of the .nfo importers can be used both ways.
They exist as standalone agents, but they also appear additionally under ‘Plex Movie’ and ‘TheTVDB’ as ancillary agents.
The order of the agent ‘lines’ decides which agent gets a chance to deliver its metadata first and thus, ‘wins’.

@OttoKerner
Are there any instructions/tips you can give me on this plug-in. I hope I don’t have to get XBMC in order for this to work.
Thanks.

Google “Ember Media Manager”.

Some other media cataloging software has also Kodi-compatible .nfo file export

What bulls**t. I’m not going to invest and learn another program so I can then import the info to Plex.
But, thanks for the effort though.

2021 clean-up: 3rd party option available; duplicate (native support for .nfo files)
