I am using the program “Tag 'N Rename” which does a fabulous job allowing you to edit all the tag fields. I have wrestled with this problem of multiple discs for a single album testing various ways of tagging as well as various directory structures.
Under artist name, I have created the albums as “year - title” and then when there are multiple discs, I create sub-directories for each disc: Disc 01, Disc 02. Tag 'N Rename makes doing this quite easy!
I have gone so far as to change such things as the disc meta-data from 01/02, 02/02 to 1/2, 2/2. I refresh the music library and then delete the trash. I have even removed the album from PLEX’s library, refreshing and deleting the trash and then reintroducing the album after effecting changes and refreshing .
Simply put, sometimes the album displays properly with the discs all together under one album jacket; other times NOT. I am strongly suspecting at this juncture that the culprit is coming from the AGENTS SETTINGS. I believe that I have set those settings to NOT consult meta-tags from external sources but am uncertain. Any advice here would be helpful keeping in mind that I am a Plex Pass subscribing member.
