0.2.1 First Impressions

After testing Rasplex 0.1.37 and then Raspbmc with plexbmc plugin, I decided to give a Rasplex another chance.

So far I am very impressed. My main problem with 0.1.37 releases was related to main menu navigation was not smooth enough. This have changed big time in 0.2.1. You can navigate without those stops between sections. Also the navigation within the sections is really good once Rasplex cached the content (and also caching seems to be quicker now).

I had some minor issues with some artwork not pulled at the first attempt, but was solved by a workaround in media manager (forcing updating metadata seems to force caching from Rasplex side).

My only remaining problem with Rasplex is the support of RTL8188eus wifi chipset, but it seems is not going to be solve until Openelec wants to or we have the Raspbian port available.

Keep up the excellent job!

Hi,

we’ll probably not add support for RTL8188eus ourselfs… but feel free to contribute this to RasPlex and OpenELEC yourself.

You should create a new OpenELEC issue at least…

Good news for you: OpenELEC has support for RTL8188eu with 3.1.X

Thus RasPlex will get support for this once the next stable version (3.2) is released.

a_wein: Good news! I knew the issue was already open in Openelec. I will wait for it.
