Hey guys,
I find myself with a bit of free time and I would like to get started developing on Plex. I’ve seen rumors about a 0.9 release being in the finalizing stages, but I can’t seem to find anything about it on the GitHub repo. Is it just part of the 0.8 branch whose latest commit is 0.8.5.2? Basically, all I am asking is which branch I should be using for development? Should I start my own branch or just work off of the one you specify is the latest development branch? Is there a particular reason master isn’t the development branch?
Also, has the compilation guide changed any from the one posted here: http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/How_to_Compile
Thanks very much for any guidance and I look forward to helping out as much as I can
P.S. If I can, I’m planning on making a cool iPad application to control Plex. It will definitely be unique…
development branches arent public, elan pushes to his public repo when a new version is publicly released, the v0.8 branch is the source for the current .8.x release. if there’s a small specific (not-library related) thing you want to do i’d say go ahead and hack on the v0.8 branch and send a pull request when you’re done, otherwise, you should probably contact Elan to coordinate with the team, there’s a lot of stuff up in the air right now.
Ah, thanks very much. I was just hoping to get a feel for the new architecture and perhaps fix some bugs, so working on an old branch wouldn’t really be helpful.
I’ll give Elan a shout
Thanks again!
