Its actually back on my day one Xbox as well with the most recent update. Hopefully they figure it out soon.

Count me in as one of the affected. Although it’s for any video where Plex added in it’s own letterboxing, not just 1080p - weird. I hope it’s fixed, it’s ruined the Plex app.
I submitted a report earlier for it. I’ve tweeted at the Insider guys about it. I’ve mentioned it on Reddit. It’s just not being acknowledged, and that’s the super frustrating part.

Forget the acknowledge part.
They only list 5-6 known issues everytime even if it´s stuff where every user is affected but normally it´s all fixed when the release goes public.
As I said above: Keep submitting feedback for every new build they release until it is fixed.
Beta ring here with OG Xbox One. We just got the new dashboard less than a week ago. Grey bars here. I imagine we are on an older build than the Alpha guys.

Not necessarily. I’m on the alpha with my Day One and in one of the updates early last week they returned. Seems they are at least making changes in this area so there is still hope of them getting it figured out though.
Beta is usually one day behind alpha (once beta starts getting updates)
9/20 update still has a grey letterbox on OG XB1.
I submit reports with each update. Still nothing in release notes. I included a link to this thread this time.

Workwombat (Head of Preview Program) replyed to me in Reddit => They are tracking the issue!
Had a new Alpha update this morning, about 4am (around 465MB). Still no fix to the grey bar issue.

I saw that. I got way more excited when I saw his reply than I should have.
And we are a known issue \o/ ( … lol)

Grey bars instead of black bars are being displayed.
Again not fixed in todays update.
And we are no known issue anymore 
Still not fixed as of preview alpha build 1710.170925-1918… and still not in the ‘known issues’
I have been told this will be fixed before the final release so sit tight!
