In the distant past (as far as updates go) the guide would automatically update by itself. In more recent updates the automatic update stopped working but the manual update would cause me to be able to see 2 weeks of scheduled DVR shows to be visible (home / recordings).
I updated to 1.16.5.1488
I went to settings / manage / live tv & DVR and clicked on “refresh guide data”
The guide shows only the current week (August 22 - August 28, 2019) not the two weeks it used to show.
If updating of the guide no longer works than PLEX will no longer function as a DVR.
I will continue to try to get the guide to update (show 2 weeks). Maybe they have changed it to only show 1 week now - I have no idea.
It still has the left arrow and you can click on it to see previous weeks recordings. The right arrow is “grayed out” when you display August 22 - August 28, 2019.
I am talking about running the plex server on my synology box. To access it I run the synology web assistant using chrome browser on my pc. I then connect to the synology server (DS918) and then start the plex app that runs on the synology box.
In the past PLEX updated the guide automatically. This stopped working a number of updates ago. Thus, I must manually update (as described previously). Previously after running update I would get 2 weeks ahead. Currently it is showing August 22 - August 28, 2019 (today is August 23) so I am only 6 days ahead (vs 2 weeks previous - maybe this is a change). I will look again tomorrow to see if the period has changed to August 23 - August 29, 2019.
Normally I have the chrome browser expanded to full screen - that is where it displays (August 22 - August 28, 2019. However, If I click on the maximize button to resize the window to the normal size when I am using the browser it displays August 22 - August 25, 2019 which makes sense since the browser window width is smaller. However, the right arrow is still grayed out and I cannot scroll to the 26-28 which I can see when the browser window is wider. The only time I can use the right arrow is when I first use the left arrow to view into past weeks recordings. Then I can scroll to the right until I hit August 22 - August 28, 2019.
We need to establish if this is a Grid view issue where the client app is not allowing you to scroll past to the real end of the guide data, or if it is a guide data issue where there is only 6 days of data available. On the Plex Web Live TV Grid view of All Channels, There is a dropdown for now and day of the week. Do you see entries for up to 7 days ? and if you click on the last - do you then not go beyond the 28th August?
Is the same symptom showing on the roku app?
You can let me have the zip code and line up used during setup and i will try see what data is available. Periodic EPG refreshes happen every 4 hours and we could look at server logs covering a couple of these refreshes to see if there are any errors…
I may not be explaining properly what I am seeing but your question has caused me to get more information and maybe I will do a better job of explaining.
Above is a picture of the guide grid. Note that I have expanded the drop down box for the day of the week. “Today” (drop down) is 8/23/2019 (Friday). Note that the drop down box will only allow you to select up to next Friday (1 week from today) which will be 8/30/2019. Note also that the guide is displaying Saturday Aug 31 which you could not select from that dropdown menu. If I scroll the grid guide further into the future it finally stops at 8:00PM with “unknown airing” on Thursday Sep 5. I cannot use the dropdown to get that far - I need to use the right arrow to scroll all the way to the end. Thus it seems the guide is actually still the 2 week period I used to see.
What I was talking about is the Recordings / Calendar view which displays upcoming shows that will record and previous live tv shows that were recorded.
The above picture shows the recordings / calendar view which is what I have been talking about. Note that the left arrow is visible and the right arrow is grayed out. You also see the dates Aug 22 - Aug 28, 2019.
The first picture shows that the guide exists further into the future but you cannot see past Wed 8/28 in the calendar view.
Thus I think these two pictures illustrate:
for some reason you cannot jump to the “end half” of the grid - you can only go about 1/2 way (fast) then you have to slowly scroll to the end
you are not able to see any upcomming shows that will be recorded past 8/28 even though the guide exists beyond 8/28
From your questions I think I did not do a good job of describing the problem - my apologies for that.
Does this new post answer your questions or do you want me add more information?
