where do you see that version? last I knew was 2260 in beta…

Updated with no update notes but apparently it’s behind the scene stuff with api according to a reddit post and notes will come soon

Edit: I will say the only thing I saw visually was a refresh of EPG data that actual had better info this time around. I don’t think it had to do with the sever build though. There were graphic posters that were for shows that were blank before and a show that I had in the recording list was originally not showing up. Now it’s back.

Updated myself earlier this morning GMT and had no ill effects so far …

Well I usually wait a month and check for survivors… Then upgrade or skip…

AFAIK, the only changes were in the installer script on Linux-based platforms.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t recall seeing this setting before this 2309 update

DISABLE VIDEO STREAM TRANSCODING

Currently I’m using PMS 1.18.5.2260 and that options are there. I didn’t update it to PMS 1.18.5.2309 yet. I’m waiting for the list of fixes and changes to be published. I can’t take any risk

I update almost immediately after each version is released and don’t think I’ve run into any serious problems, nothing I can remember anyhow. I do keep (locally) the last 2-3 previous rpms just incase and have weekly backups of my whole plexserver library.

Better safe than sorry …

I used to do it earlier until my server started to crash with new updates. Plex took couple of months to fix that bug and I have been stuck with very old release until then :grimacing:
My opinion is applying a latest patch has both sides :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I can’t see any information regarding this release. It looks like somebody hit the PUBLISH THIS RELEASE TO BETA CHANNEL by a mistake. PLEX where is your quality control team.

I see the info here:
Plex Media Server 1.18.5.2309 is now available in the Beta update channel.

yup, added much later

I didn’t know I had been promoted to Release Publication Manager until after it was published

At last i have cpu and memory resources visible in dashboard. I skipped some versions so i dont know if it is this release that fixed this, but i am happy :grinning:

It seems 4K HDR content has lost its quality adjustment settings. Playback default to a washed out 1080p with no way to direct play the original.

Now I am getting “This server is not powerful enough to convert video.”

its been fine for the last 4 months…

EDIT : It seems to be all HDR files, nothing to do with 4K after all.

@jky this doesn’t really have anything to do with this thread.

I would suggest you open a new thread, include all details including specific plex versions (server and client), a screenshot of your plex web dashboard with a problem video playing, what OS/version/hardware of the server, and logs ideally with the problem recreated in them.

when 4k gets transcoded (whether it something new/changed, or always has been), it will almost always come down to;

  • HD audio (choose a different audio stream like ac3/dts 5.1 or stereo)
  • subtitles (disable them and see if transcoding stops)

other possible issues

  • the client/player thinks it is remotely connected to the server and is thus restricted by the client/server remote quality settings.
  • client/player somehow got its settings adjusted or reset (kid or other house member knowingly/unknowingly changed something)
