Follow up to my previous post. Latest server version introduces playback errors, rolling back to an earlier one resolves the issue.
Server Version#:1.43.0.10231
Player Version#:Plex for LG, Client version 5.93.2, Platform version 9.2.4
QNAP TS-251, QTS 5.2.7.3297, Celeron J1800, 8Gb RAM
Hardware acceleration is enabled and the device is shown as ‘Intel Atom Processor Z36XXX/Z37XXX Series graphics and display’
Error shown on client - ‘Playback error - an unexpected playback problem occurred’
Hi All
As previously posted, using the latest version of Plex server gives the above playback error, on some videos - not all.
I upgraded to the latest release version v.1.42.2.10156 which gave the error, and then I tried upgrading again to the latest beta 1.43.0.10231, however the error persists.
I uninstalled the server, and re-installed earlier version 1.40.5.8921 (because I still had that one in my downloads)
Using the latest server version, I get a playback error ‘an unexpected playback problem occurred’ on the client. If I go into the setting in the client (LG WebOS), and select Force Direct Play in the video options, the playback issue seems to be fixed, however I had not previously had to do this. Using the earlier server version, this no longer needs to be turned on and all videos play back without error, and I can see that HW transcoding is being used.
I think maybe it’s something to do with ffmpeg? If I watch the console output on the latest server version, these errors (amongst others) comes up -
[Req#1a2a/Transcode] [FFMPEG] - No support for codec hevc profile 2
[Req#1a2a/Transcode] [FFMPEG] - Failed setup for format vaapi: hwaccel initialisation returned error
[Req#1a2a/Transcode] Codecs: packet decode testing returned -95 for decoder ‘hevc’
There seems to be no issues with the earlier version - unfortunately I can’t determine which version introduces the error, as the only earlier version I have is 1.40.5.8921, so it’s sometime between then and the latest version.
Thanks
Bill
