Mind sharing anything beyond “it’s not working”?
Maybe server logs…

And sure to those who know “something went wrong” say’s it all when used in the context of “My media has gone from gui”

I’m having the same problem. Server process is crashing, have tried a reinstall of the update and rebooted a couple times. Not sure if there is a safe way to downgrade to previous good version.

Reviewing the Plex Media Server.log seeing the following error:

Plex Media Server.5.log is showing some other errors. I see some similar errors in @Fliptop72’s Plex Media Server.log files. Unusual?

Thanks. Both sets of logs show you’re having some corruption in your database. This can happen if the server is terminated or the underlying storage is being removed while writing to the database.

Your best shot is to attempt repairing the database. In many cases this will succeed.
If the repair fails you could try to restore your server from an automatic backup of your database (assuming you haven’t disabled that scheduled task).

If all that fails, the nuclear option is to wipe your current server and start from scratch. Before doing that you might try if you can still export some viewstate/watch status and ratings off your old server (with a corrupted database that’s a hit and miss experience). This way you might salvage some of the personal information.

Me too but no one helped yesterday… This is what mine looks like> Pics in Link

I want to Downgrade the Firmware too but older posts on how to do that seem to be missing or the process has changed or both.

Can anyone please give me directions to Downgrade FW? It would be most appreciated and I am NEVER Updating again

A wall of text in all-caps isn’t necessarily inviting to read more than the 1st few sentences.
How about a look at your server logs to see what’s actually going wrong. You can downgrade the server version all you want… if your database has gone south, this will do you no good.

I rolled it back even without finding the UPDATES folder. It works now. I’m on Windows 10 if someone else needs the info. I will give full info later tonight or tomorrow when I’m in front of a PC instead of my Xbox right now between games of Dead by Daylight. It takes forever for me to type on this

Anyone know where to find the Plex UPDATES Folder these days on Windows because it either isn’t where it used to be in “App Data” or it somehow disappeared with this last update but either way, I need to find it so please help if you know. I don’t appreciate wasting hours upon hours trying to fix things after every major update.

I ROLLED IT BACK WITHOUT EVER FINDING AN UPDATE FOLDER but if you know if and where it’s supposed to be located now, please tell because I would like to know Thank You.

This just happened to me as well.

Ok, home from work and attempted to restore the dbs. No good, same problem was reproduced. I then just attempted to replace all the contents of the databases folder (I had a 24hour backup to copy from). Same problem. I had to do a full restore to a backup from Monday AM and not apply the update for now. Not clear if DB already has corruption or if introduced with update 1.26.0.5715?

See the Check for Corruption section of https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/

@dbirch, thanks for I did run the corruption check, it came back negative, both after the update and before the update but the logs reported corruption pretty consistently. I attempted the repair but it didn’t fix the problem or prevent the same failure pattern with the update.

Now that I’ve done a full restore of the machine, I’ve let the db go and will need to investigate further at a later time if it happens with another update. For now I’m going to skip 1.26.0.575 and hope others don’t have the same problem. I’m going to guess too many don’t have backups to recover from like I did. Only need to get burned once before you start backing up your plex server configuration.

Ok so I read where you can Rollback-update PMS if you have an older FW and I have a few in my Downloads folder on the Server. You are supposed to find the “Updates” Folder in APPDATA etc etc, but I could not find it and don’t know if that is where or IF they even keep them anymore after you do you update. Also, I am on Windows 10, Yours may be different to do so for that, you have to research the Rollback or Downgrade of the FW on these Forums and it had other directions in it but I just copy and pasted my setup in a text file on my Desktop so I could do it that way. Ok so I could not find the Updates folder so I decided I would roll the dice, if you aren’t comfortable doing this, don’t. I am not responsible if you lose or mess anything up, this is my experience only. So I roll the dice figuring if it doesn’t work, I will do the Server from Scratch again.

So 1st STEP > I went to ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS in the Windows Control Panel & hit uninstall on the PLEX MEDIA SERVER program . DO NOT USE ANY 3rd PARTY UNINSTALLER as that was mentioned NOT TO in the directions. So next I uploaded an update from 2 weeks ago before everything was fine BUT that just gave me the same situation of Blank Libraries with a GREEN LIGHT for Remote Access. So I decide to uninstall it one more the same as the 1st step but this time, go back further. I went back to Feb 2021 FW & clicked on the installer link & ran it & now everything came back like it was 3 days ago but without the new layout apparently, so I don’t believe it was a corrupt database, I believe it was a corrupt FW in the current PMS update . I believe 124 is the first 3 numbers in that FW that worked for me. I want to go with a bit newer FW now that I got everything back to running seemingly normal. Don’ know if I am missing any changes of settings yet but is there a way to know if the FW is from the PUBLIC or BETA options by looking at the FW link itself? At some point in 2021 I decided to try the BETA builds and have since and THAT is why I decided to go so far back, because I want a PUBLIC build for sure now. So if there is a way to tell, I want the best Public Build of anything BEFORE we had this Streaming stuff of recent. I really plan on just never updating it again. I hit skip earlier to get rid of the FW notice on the Server. Now I’m gonna go watch a Barney Miller & go to bed. Good luck anyone who needs a fix and if I can be of any other help or you have any questions, just ask and I will respond asap. I think I was clear on what I did but fire away if I confused anyone. Goodluck all

PS> I restarted my PC (ONCE) ONLY AFTER I got the Server working again. Then I did a restart and everything came back great AFAIK. Cheers

Sounds like it’s too late but if memory serves, I found previous versions in something like - C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates

So my database is fine and my media is still listed, but I can’t play from a fire stick or roku. fire stick says “something went wrong” and the roku acts like its going to play, but hangs at 60%. I can play from the web viewer, the Windows 10 app, and the iphone app.

Someone else can use this info though I am sure as it seems more people are having the same issue. Also, that is where I checked but I didn’t have a folder UPDATES at all. I know I used to a few years back when I looked for it but this time, it is no where which makes me think the updates no longer save on your PMS Folder as I believe that was the source of many peoples C Drives filling up and running out of space so I am thinking they make them Temp files somehow now but that is my guess. I found my updates in my Download Folder and I almost never delete anything in that folder unless for some reason I need to. Goodnight all. I watched impractical Jokers for 2 episodes without issue too so my server seems to be back. Hopefully the ones that are having issues can fix theirs too. Cheers

Well what you describe sounds like the new update isn’t working properly so if Management don’t give anyone answers about what the cause is, I would think about doing what I did if you have access to the FW but I would go back at least to the one before this new one. For example, if the new FW starts with 1.26, & I believe it does, then I would use the latest PUBLIC 1.25 FW I could find and hope for the best. I also don’t know if this was a BETA release or a PUBLIC but I am never using BETA again regardless. I hope you figure it out, Cheers
