-1 Unplayed Episodes?

At least two of my shows are showing -1 un-played episodes…what the heck?

@alexhawker That is very strange behaviour, unfortunately I can’t seem to reproduce it. Would you mind providing me with a few additional details? I would like to know which Podcasts are displaying the -1 un-played episodes, the expected number of un-played episodes, and the device on which you are seeing the issue. Thanks.

See attached screenshot. I’m noticing the podcasts shown in on deck don’t seem to always have new episodes available (and some with new episodes aren’t populating there).
I think the steps to reproduce have something to do with marking a show (with no unplayed episodes but still showing in on deck) as played.

Same thing happened to me this morning. I unmarked it as listened to, and then marked it again, went back to the podcasts front page, and it went away.

Upon further inspection, it’s still showing a -1. In fact, the episode was marked as half-played, (assuming this happened because I finished it in another location) and I just hit “mark as played” again, now the podcast is at -2.

Any ideas/things for katsimbris and I to test?

@katsimbris Thank you for bringing to light the involvement of another device as I am finally able to reproduce the issue because of it! What I am seeing is that if I mark the same episodes as played / unplayed at the same time, then the number of unplayed is wrong. I was able to not only reproduce the “-1” count, but I was also able to get the wrong count when it is positive by marking the same episode as “unplayed” on both web and ios at the same time, and returning a count of 2 instead of 1. Thank you all for the help!

I will provide all the findings to the developers and let them know!
