1080p videos are direct played for a few minutes then starts converting

Hello, I’m new to video/audio so forgive me if I get the terminology wrong. I have a few 1080p videos that are encoded with h264 video and were encoded with DTS audio but i recoded the audio to AC3 so that the Xbox One can direct play the audio. When the video is played, it is direct played for about 3-5 minutes and then PMS starts to convert the video and its no longer direct played.

I do have SRT subtitles turned on. Does this cause the video to be converted ?

What can I do to get Plex to direct play the whole video ?

Audio is not the only factor that plays into Direct Play - your video
encoding matters too, as well as the container that you use.

Check this and make sure your file matches the requirements

Thanks for the reply. I did check the Plex support page for Xbox One and the files I have are supported. Video is encoded with h264, audio is ac3 encoded and the file container is mkv.

The support page for Xbox One doesnt mention subtitles. I think this maybe what is causing the issue. Could it be that with subtitles on PMS is transcoding the video ?

Hi there. It sounds like the player is experiencing a playback error and falling back to a transcode in order to recover. Is it always at the same point? The best thing to do would be to enable logging in the app and post the server logs here.

It doesnt happen at the same point. I will try to play a video again and see if it happens and provide a log.
