My kids have their own Plex accounts, I have a Plex account and my ex-wife has a Plex account. I’d like to see Plex home change so that my wife can have our kids in her Plex home and I can have them also in my Plex home. So that she can single sign in to the client app and our kid’s profiles will show up in the user selection AND have our kids in my Plex home so that when I sign in at my house our kid’s profiles will also show up in the user selection.
As it stands now, she has to have my username and password for Plex and sign in to the client apps with my credentials so all of our usernames show up in the user selection screen, with my profile on her devices even though I don’t live there.
Sorry buddy.
I bet anything that Home won’t get “dual owner” because that’s … messy. Home owners can modify member restrictions, etc.
But I have a sorta similar complaint/request. I’m at my house most of the time, my girlfriend’s house some of the time, my sister’s house some of the time.
We aren’t all part of the same Home, and we certainly don’t share credentials. This means there’s no reasonable way for me to access my Plex content (and watch status, playlists, etc.) when I’m at their houses.
I’m not going to log them out when I’m at their houses, or vice versa, because forcing them to log in again is a chore.
I don’t have a suggestion, exactly, just that it’s a pain. Some way to allow multiple saved logins, or easy one-time logins, maybe.
Seems like it could be related, or could have a related solution, maybe.
I don’t mean to say suggestion will not happen and maybe your kids are too young to have cell phones or tablets. I know a remote is often preferable when playing on a TV.
My only suggestion that you may be able to do today is that If there is a cast-able target device for TV at the homes in question visitors can use their mobile device with Plex installed to cast to the target.
Yeah, I get that it could be messy, particularly if it was complete anarchy with unlimited Plex homes, but 2 seems realistic and would help a lot of people, I think. Plus, just for reference to another ecosystem: Google family link and Microsoft family have the capability of 2 admins (parents) at least. Even if maybe having users in 2 homes isn’t possible, maybe being able to assign as admin “home owner” would be nice.
