So, unenrolled my console from Insider previews, allowed it to do a full factory reset and update, and now the stuck “buffering” message issue is fixed for me. Yay for betas.

@“johnrea@gmail.com” Can you tell me the OS version your console is on?
10.0.17105.1000
+1, Plex for Xbox One 2.4.1.70 on an Xbox One X running OS 10.0.17105.1000.
The box either displays “Buffering” or the show title.
I’m having the same problem, and I’m also on one of the early insider builds for the Xbox One X.
Same problem.
OS 10.0.17105.2005
Plex version: 2.4.1.70

I don’t understand how you guys have that high a OS version number.
The Public builds have caught up to the insider rings at the moment
The current version is
OS version: 10.0.16299.5101 (RS3_RELEASE_XBOX_DEV_1802.180131-1450)
and the ones before that
OS version: 10.0.16299.4055 (rs3_release_xbox_dev_1711.171203-1700)
OS version: 10.0.16299.4037 (rs3_release_xbox_dev_1711.171110-1615)
OS version: 16299.3031 (rs3_release_xbox_dev_1710.171012-1520)
OS version: 10.0.15063.4103 (rs2_xbox_rel_1706.170830-1908)
OS version: 10.0.15063.4102 (rs2_xbox_rel_1706.170822-1237)
Am I missing something?

There are earlier pre-release rings available for certain groups (developers that need access to early bits for testing, Microsoft employees with access to the internal rings, etc.). Insider builds have already gone through several rings by the time they’re released to Insiders.
I’m currently also on 10.0.1705.2005 and seeing the same behavior.
Thanks everyone, we’re investigating the issue with Microsoft.

Hey you do you, but being in the Insider program and being married are like oil and water ![]()
Looks like it’s those of us on the alpha ring that got a background update a in the last 2 days
*weeks even
workaround#
Launch Plex
Choose video to watch
Start playing - you get the persistent buffering or title in the middle of the screen.
Press the guide button and select home.
Reopen plex.
It should resume plex playing your video without the persistent buffering or title in the middle of the screen.
You have to do this for every video. I’m on 10.0.17105.2008 Xbox

17105 was released to alpha ring today
It looks like I’m experiencing this issue now as well. It was fine for me until the latest update in the Insider Preview Alpha ring. I’m on Plex for Xbox One v2.4.1.70 and Xbox OS v10.0.17105.2008.
Interestingly the same issue occurs if you press the Menu button to view extended stats while playing a video. Pressing it once clears the Buffering overlay, pressing it again clears the bottom of the stats overlay but the top half remains.
Plugstar’s workaround of going back to the dashboard and then going back into the Plex app seems to resolve it. It looks like the frame buffer used to render those overlays just isn’t getting cleared properly when it’s no longer supposed to be shown.
Same issue. I’m on 10.0.17105.2008 Xbox One too
thxs to Plugstar’s for the hint.
Same issue on 10.0.17105.2010.
thx @plugstar for workaround.
Plex version: 2.5.2.70
OS version: 10.0.17115.1001
Same issue and now workaround almost never helps.
I’m in the Alpha build as well and this has been going on for a week or so.
OS: 10.0.17115.1001
