2 servers 1 database?

I am on latest versions of server and player (windows 10). I have to have 2 different servers as I have both OTA and cable card tuners, and Plex cannot handle both in 1 server.
Can I use the same database file for both servers, i.e. would Plex share the database gracefully? Would be nice to see all my libraries’ contents from either server.

Big no

What is the issue with the tuners? To many channels?

Databases in Plex are based on SQLite, and that is not good when using Network access, since that will cause corruption

Plex does not support 2 totally different channel lineups on the same server. So I have my i7 running the main OTA server, but I have a puny i5 (2 cores) running the cable box tuner and it doesn’t have the guts to transcode live TV (for out of the house viewing). So I’m hoping to avoid getting another i7 machine just for this. But my Slingboxes have been sentenced to death (a real crime IMHO) so I need something more reliable than TiVo for remote viewing.

You might see if your channel lineups are available in Schedule Direct. Then you can use EPG123 to download them and send them to xTeve. Then have Plex pull the XML guide data from xTeve. I have done this before and works great.

How much overlap is there between your cable and OTA lineups? Does your cable lineup include most/all of your locally broadcast OTA channels? If so, you can use both tuners on the same server. When mapping the channels for your OTA DVR, use the equivalent from the local listings of the cable guide. The channel numbers obviously won’t line up, the content and schedules will.

If that’s not possible, you could have the server which records from the OTA tuner store the recordings on network share on the “main” server. Share your DVR TV folder on your network and map it as a network drive on the OTA server. Add that as a folder for your DVR library and choose it as the recording destination when scheduling it. You could just map your entire media folder from the main server to the OTA server as well.

Yeah I see what you’re saying, that doesn’t really solve the problem I’m aiming at due to the non-overlaps being the channels of interest.
I was going to ask about the latter, so it sounds like having one server share another server’s library directory is not an issue. Just confirming before I trash some gigabytes of content  At least then either server’s library listing would show mainly the same thing.
