2160p Movie is lagging extrem

hi
unfortunately i can only watch movies via my MediaServer with only 1080p, when i try 2160p it lagt extremely and the Media Server bufferd very very slow

Is this an HDR video?

Plex Web cannot direct play HDR media. It will be transcoded by Plex Media Server. If your server cannot keep up, playback will buffer.

Try using Plex Desktop instead. It is a more capable client, not subject to the limitations of web browsers. Available for Linux, Mac, & Windows… Documentation, Download

is the same, web or Local Player , the bufferuing is very slow

Is the video transcoding?

What is displayed in Plex Dashboard → Now Playing + Expanded View?

Please attach a screenshot.

I think that the window should be much larger in the fullscreen here

Thanks for the screenshots.

Plex is transcoding the video. If the server cannot transcode in real time, playback will buffer, as the client must wait for the server to transcode more video.

The server is not not using hardware accelerated transcoding (No (hw) in the dashboard screenshot).

What CPU / GPU is in the system?
Is hardware accelerated transcoding enabled in Settings → Transcoder?

transcoder

yes it is in German

04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ASPEED Technology, Inc. ASPEED Graphics Family (rev 41)
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ASPEED Technology, Inc. ASPEED Graphics Family [1a03:2000] (rev 41)
DeviceName: ASPEED Video AST2500
Subsystem: Super Micro Computer Inc ASPEED Graphics Family [15d9:0981]

The CPU has a Passmark of 23296, so it should be able transcode 4K video.

However, it may not be able to both transcode and tone map 4K HDR video.

Two things to try:

  1. Try selecting a lower resolution and bandwidth, such as 1080p/20 Mbps. Click on the Settings icon after playback starts, then select a lower resolution.

  2. As a test, try disabling HDR Tone Mapping. The movie should buffer less (the colors will be wrong since tone mapping is disabled),

The real solution is either:
(a) Do not transcode 4K HDR media, or
(b) add a supported GPU to the system and use hardware accelerated transcoding and tone mapping. You can then transcode and tone map multiple 4K HDR streams if desired.

If you can add a GPU to the system, a Nvidia 1050Ti 4GB would be the minimum. Many people use the Quadro cards, such as the P2000,

Intel graphics are also supported on Linux based systems. I do not know if there is a Xeon CPU with built in HD/UHD graphics. Also, swapping CPUs is probably much more expensive than adding a Nvidia card.

Is that a ultra-wide monitor?

I’m not sure how well Plex handles those.

In tv is stocking every 5-10 sek
