Hi there,
I love the new filtering in Plexamp, and I’m very happy to see that I can now make a playlist with tracks rated for instance “3 or more”, by using the “match any” option (and have two rules, either 3 star or above 3 stars). Excellent!
I do have a few requests though:
can “album rating” be added to the filtering options? I like to rate my albums myself and I don’t use the “album critic rating”
I would also like to see another option added under “Tracks”, and that is “track duration” (because I want to rule out those 20 mins + tracks sometimes)
finally: can the “add rule” box extend all the way down to the bottom bar on desktop? Less scrolling to see all the beautiful options
I like those ideas…
While I’ve cleaned up any “hidden tracks” from my old CD collection (by splitting the files and dropping the “silence”)… I couldn’t bring myself to drop some of the <15 sec “intro” tracks or somebody speaking between songs – but I certainly can see me filtering them out
I have been crying for the duration time to be included in the filtering, as it also is nice to filter on the plaing time of a video, not only audio tracks.
You can actually do that already if I undertand you correctly
If you choose the pencil menu for an item and then choose “sharing” in there you can add labels to the chosen item.
In library view you can choose to see items with a specific label and in the filtering you can set label to be equal to a specific label.
Thanks, this could be an alternative if “Various Artists” is indeed the key to identify Compilations v.s. the Compilation metadata tag.
That said, I think that adding the filter and other controls to “Compilations” screen, as well as the right bar to quickly jump to items, would still be a nice to have for people with a significant number of compilation albums.
The first screenshot shows a library which is probably sorted by ‘release date’ or ‘date added’ and not by album title. The “jump letters” will appear once you sort the library by album title.
Just to add onto this thread - I’d love it if we could filter the library by “is in playlist” for example. I’d love to be able to turn my playlists into smart playlists but at the minute this is involving tonnes of work to edit every single track and give them a custom mood. It would be much easier if we could filter the library by “is in playlist A”, for example, and then turn this into a smart playlist.
I also have some additional filter requests for more advanced smart playlists:
As natsmith95 mentioned, filter for “is/is not in Playlist/Smart Playlist”
This would allow for easily combining playlists together, without needing to duplicate the matching rules
Regular expression search in Name (Track/Album)
I have some live/rough/demo tracks with things like (live) in the title, but it’s inconsistent so the contains option would filter out normal tracks.
Track Collections/Tags
As above, I have some bonus tracks within albums that I don’t want to regularly listen to. Adding individual tracks to a collection or tagging it with some name would help filter them out, without needing to do it at an album level. This could also be achieved with the first request
Search for text in any field
Single filter for finding if any searchable text matches/contains something
Limit playlist to # items
This is an option on Plex web, adding it to PlexAmp would be nice
Sort by random
Tied in with the limited number list, so we can get a random selection of # songs
One example of how these could be used would be the “Mixtape” playlist:
