3 movies, same title, same release year

There are three movies titled, Journey to the Center of the Earth, each with a release date of 2008.

The one with Brendan Fraser. Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) - IMDb
The one with Rick Schroder. Journey to the Center of the Earth (TV Movie 2008) - IMDb
The one with Greg Evigan. Journey to the Center of the Earth (Video 2008) - IMDb

This seems to be the perfect storm.

What naming scheme should be employed on the file server? Obviously, I can’t have three files with the same name.

As it stands right now, I can only have one file and Plex can be pointed to a particular version. How can this be resolved?

In a situation such as this, you should probably include the IMDB or TMDB ID within curly braces at the end of each movie’s folder/file name.

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005) {imdb-tt0372784}
      Batman Begins (2005) {imdb-tt0372784}.mp4

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}
      Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}.mp4

This should help Plex uniquely identify each movie.

Since these were likely identified as duplicates of the same movie in your library at some point, you may need to use the Plex Dance to untangle them after renaming.
