32bit migration to 64bit advantages?

The recent Synology DSM upgrade caused a number of users (Including my own) reporting problems of the Plex service failing to start (run) after upgrade. It seems accidentally that one user found the 64bit version of Plex was running OK, but the 32bit was failing. Many users (including myself) upgraded (without any issues) to the 64bit. Thank you Plex forums for coming across this and sharing, and thanks to the Plex developers for a great product.

Now for the million dollar question. As a side of migrating from 32bit to 64 bit, are there any potential other gains Plex will have from using 64bit? I am thinking if I had realized 64bit was an option I may have chosen it earlier, but will my movies encode faster, does 64bit offer any multi-threading or increased number of simultaneous streams or … ? Or is it simply same code and only utilizes 32bit capabilities?

plus:
you will get hardware transcoding (if your NAS supports that)!
(plex pass required)
