I'm having issue with 3D mkv SBS files. I'm naming them correctly "MovieName.year.3d.h-sbs.mkv", but when i'm playing them on the xbox one plea app the two side image are auto merged into a full 2D image. Usually, there is a little blur when sbs image are merged in 3D but that's not the case. Furthermore, my projector do not detect 3D image.
I would like plex not to merge my 3d mkv files and let me automatically switch into 3D mode with my projector.
Strange. I have several 3D movies with an extension of .3D.HALF-SBS.MP4 (my files are all mp4).
Using the xbox one on a "normal" TV I get them displayed correctly "side by side".
I can't help but wonder if something is done differently for MKV files OR IF the files are being "transcoded" and the frames "merged".
Can you check to see if the MKV file is being transcoded or not?
Can you use a tool such as XMedia Recode (assuming the video is h.264) to mux the file into an mp4 and try again. You can choose to copy both video and audio or video and convert the audio to AAC and it won't take long at all to process.
Ok i'm gonna try that and come back to you tomorrow. Another funny thing is that today a movie that usually was merge into 2D image finally started normally into SBS. I tried to apply his name type to other files but nothing worked. Other information, don't know yet if it's relevant but this file is the only one under 10gb.
I've tried to convert into m4V with iflicks 2, the sbs is still overlayed. My files are h264 high@4.1 6080,992s, 1920x1080 and both AAC and AC3 ...
Regarding transcoding, it's set on auto in PMS.
Edit : Funny fact on the web player the mkv files are not overlayed, they play with the two standard image (SBS). On plex web when i'm looking into activity, in "playing list" it's written "transcoding". In the log it's written as transcoded
I’ve been scratching my head on this one. The same mkvs played directly on the TV via USB will auto switch the TV to 3D mode.
The Xbox is probably recognising the 3D metadata of the files, but 3rd party apps don’t have all the features of the bluray app yet, such as 24hz and 3D
Edit: It doesn’t happen on all 3D mkvs, just some of the latest rips where stereoscopic 3D is set in the metadata.
