I play a 3D movie (SBS) on my PC via the web app/or samsung plex tv app, works. When I try it in XBONE app, it does not.. What gives? No 3D support?
I haven't had a problem with it, but you do have to manually enable your TV to use 3D SBS mode. There is no auto detection....
xBox doesn't know or care if it's 3D or not. That's up to your TV.
If you have names your files with the special Samsung naming convention then this only works in the Plex for Samsung app that Orca wrote.
If you play the same file via the xBox it will display Side By Side or Top/Bottom. Just grab your samsung remote and switch the view with the 3D button.

Still would be nice if that gets supported some day. The Xbox one blue ray app can handle the 3d mode of the tv, so maybe the Plex app can also.
I’m confused by the last post. Is 3d supported in the xbox client or not?

No, it’s not. 3rd Party apps cannot switch the display mode on the xbox so that currently limits the xbox from switching the refreshing rate and playback mode.
The Xbox One client can display HSBS/HTAB but that requires you to manually switch your TV into 3D mode selecting the type of 3D mode that the file is. There is a condition where the Xbox is reading some of the 3D information from the file either in the container or video stream (the current thought is in the video stream as remuxing doesn’t fix it) where the Xbox itself is converting the HSBS/TAB file into a 2D image, but currently what is triggering this is unknown.
I’ve had this and it was really odd. Xbox was playing them back as a full screen 2D video - like it was cutting off half the picture and scaling the rest to fit the screen.
The videos worked on PC and PS4 but not Xbox one. I had some videos that worked and some that didn’t. I think we identified a difference in the profiles, and when I re-ripped the faulty ones at the same profile as the others, they worked on Xbox.
Here’s a link to the thread where I was discussing before. Semes like there isn’t a fix but it could help you workaround it by reripping.

Looking at that thread one user did point out frame packing, but as far as I know frame packing would affect the video stream specifically and not the container. So turning off direct play and forcing just a remux wouldn’t affect it where as forcing a transcode by turning of direct stream and direct play should erase any metadata/encoding settings that would be causing it.
I myself was waiting to see if there was anything concrete after they went home to test it more, but the only thing that happened was striking out the direct play comment.
