3D naming with a remote server (DiskStation)

Hey guys,

I’m having a hard time figuring out what’s wrong.

Scenario:

I have a Synology DiskStation which works as my Plex server. I added a media library called 3D movies. The movies are named movie name.h-sbs.mp4 or movie name.h-ou.mkv. I tried h-tab as well.

Furthermore I tagged each movie with the tags 3D and h-sbs if it’s side by side or h-ou/h-tab if its top and bottom/over under.

Now the problem is that Plex only detects one of the movies as a 3D movie. The other movies are shown in 2D with it’s side-by-side or top-and-bottom picture. What am I missing here?

I read, that Plex doesn’t send the file name to the TV. But therefore I added tags to the movies which should fix the problem. Des anyone know what I’m doing wrong here?

There is only one client that uses 3D tags Plex for Samsung written by Orca.

If you are using any other client then you have to manually switch your TV into 3D mode selecting the type of 3D you are using.

How comes that my TV recognizes one of the files as a 3D clip then?

I couldn’t say why your TV is recognizing a 3D file (or even how it is doing).

However, the ONLY plex client that reads 3D tags in the file name is the Plex for Samsung App.

And OpenPHT and Rasplex in the next release.

Do you know if there a future plans the Android TV client or Apple TV app will support reading 3D-tags?

I have no idea, Plex Inc doesn’t release their roadmap so future features are often never leaked until they’re released.

And as Ned just stated Rasplex and OpenPHT will be having this feature soon as well. But there is not telling when the Plex Inc clients will (if ever) support this feature.
