3D to 2D when playing in non 3D capable devices

I rip a lot of blurays to H-SBS and H-TAB to play them in Plex for Samsung. Samsung TV only recognizes 3D video files if are named like this:

I.e. Avatar.H-SBS.mkv - or - Avatar.H-TAB.mkv

SO MY REQUEST IS:

As Plex uses ffmpeg , 3D to 2D conversion only would require crop by half vertically if file contains .H-SBS. or horizontally if contains .H-TAB. .

Cropping a 1080p 3D movie will result in 2 x 720p halves, both of them with the same aspect ratio. It would be nice And It will avoid the pain of reencoding versions for each device .
