Hello! Im running Plex Media Server on a dedicated Windows Server '19 Workstation running “bare-metal” with a Xeon processor. I only stream over the LAN but it still buffers every 20-30 seconds or so when playing 4K files to my AppleTV or TV. Im studing to a master in network engineering and i have designed my home network by myself, i get a trough-put of 950up/940down across all devices connected via the network to the internet. (also the 4K AppleTV and my LG OLEDB9 65) I have a Sonos ARC connected to the TV with HDMI 2.1 if that makes any difference. Usually im streaming H265 4K Dolby Atmos files. Any suggestions why it’s still buffering? Transcoding shouldn’t be a issue since the device i stream to should support the file format.
First, view the Plex dashboard while something is playing to confirm that it is not being transcoded.
Then take a look at this thread and especially this post. There are specific interaction issues with Windows Server and the Apple TV 4K.
