Hi,
I think that the subjects had to be treated 1000 times but I did not manage to solve my problem. first of all, sorry for my english, i am French plex customer and i love it. I use it on a htpc and my tv samsung 65ks8000 + home theater yamaha. no problem except for 4k movie playback in general and especially 4k hdr 10bits … I read a lot, tried a lot of things but nothing works. either that lag or error message reader. I changed my network cable + gigabit switch but nothing works. the CPU is 100% and can not follow. So yes the cpu is maybe too light for the 4k (i7 3770k) but the tv reads the 4k hdr 10bits on usb stick without any problem so why want to transcode? I also have hardware acceleration, it does not work either. So, do you have a solution to read these movies in passtrough simply because the tv allows it?
thank you in advance
Check the audio track being played and no subtitles. Otherwise you need a modern CPU or Video card for HW transcoding 4K.
thank you for your answer but the problem is not there since the tv and the av supports the 4k hdr 10 for the video on the tv and all the audio formats to av amp.
plex strives to transcode 4k without a real reason. I would like to have my hands on a real passtrough simply. I plan to do without plex for this reason it’s a shame because for the rest, it does everything very well
To help get to the bottom of this, start playback on your Smart TV with the problem video.
Then go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop, then click on the “activity icon” near the upper right, and then from that click on the server name that shows the video playing.
That should get you to the Dashboard and the Now Playing section near the top of the page. Post a screenshot of the Now Playing bit during playback.
Plex for Samsung — TV UE65KS8000
Error—0:00 / 3:02:33
Local (192.168.*.**)—252 Mbps
Vidéo
4K (HEVC Main 10 HDR)
4K (H264)—Transcoder
Audio
Français (TRUEHD 7.1)
EAC3—Transcoder
Sous-titres
Français Forced (PGS)
An actual screenshot would be nicer; best I can tell, these are causing transcoding:
Your AVR may support HD Audio but since the Samsung doesn’t and that’s where the Plex app is installed, then the audio is going to get transcoded.
PGS subtitles will always cause transcoding if I recall correctly.
I have 49ks7000 and mini pc with only intel n3350 and I can play 10bit directly with no issue. Sometimes it won’t work when the audio is some kind of 7.1 I drop it to 5.1 and it plays without issue. Sorry I can’t help with your issue but it can and does work.
it bug (lag) even in direct playing. it reads but ends up lagging. limit to network samsung tv?
