Interesting approach, then I guess it is up to Panasonic on why the Plex is available for “not supported” models?
Also in the other thread Playback issues (Panasonic Smart TV) you can see that it was working just fine before for the users and it started presenting this behavior only after an app update.
And you say that your app is doing this check and enforces the bitrate limitation, why then not add an override switch in the app, I accept any possible issues in my “unsupported model”. Or change the behavior and put a switch on the server side since you anyhow send the model number
