We are planning on getting a 4k TV and the new upcoming Xbox for Christmas. We currently stream plex through Apple TV’s and Xbox’s and we looking at a way to stream Plex in 4k at that time. Will the Plex App be capable of streaming in 4K on that new machine? I really don’t want to do Roku and although I’ve heard rumors we haven’t seen any news on a new Apple TV.
It’s going to be up to Microsoft. Currently, both the Xbox One and Xbox One S can direct play 4K content. The only difference is that the non-s versions automatically downscale back to 1080p.
There’s no HDR either. Not sure if that’s just Plex or Microsoft. Netflix, Amazon, Emby can give HDR
