there are some testing versions

https://nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/embedded-testing/

So you believe it’s a limitation of the program itself? I was hoping there was a fix.

I don’t know, I would just try it.

But that’s probably easier said than done.

In my case I would install the newer release to a usb stick, then try it. So, you don’t mess up the install on your htpc.

Thanks I’ll try.

@bubblegum57 finally got a chance to sit down and look at the builds in the link…

i’m not quite certain where is the installer i’m looking at the two generic files but there isnt an exe.

edit: i went up one level in your link and found what i needed… will test and see thanks!

oh wow so this is totally a separate app… the latest app plays all my media with like a flat spot on a wheel. every few seconds it will pause/skip the video…

I’m afraid I’m not “technical” so can’t really help.

From my understanding, Openpht is based on Openelec? Openelec is now just about dead.

I don’t want to upset anyone on this forum, but you could try installing Libreelec, again to a different usb, & either try the movie under Kodi, then you can install a Plex addon via Kodi.

Hi, i got the same issue. Run OpenPHT/Plex server on a i5 2500K 3.3Ghz CPU and a GTX1070. VLC and Kodi works for me… The Plex-app on my LG OLEDC8 also works fine so im using that until i can solve this.

there are some old posts about OpenPHT not utilizing the last version of Kodi not sure if that is still the case, but the problem was hardware acceleration not working for 4k content…

What hardware do you use?

running a 6 core VM with 8GB ram and a gtx1050

I read somewhere on this forum, that when Kodi 9 is released, openpht will be based on that. Kodi is at RC1

oh sweet! so its not dead… just stalled? lol

More accurately, LibreELEC 9. Kodi is currently on version 17 with 18 in Beta. OpenPHT 1.8 is based on LibreELEC 8. There is a 1.9 version of OpenPHT based on LibreELEC 8.2 which addressed issues with 4K playback. You can Google that and see if it solves your problems. OpenPHT v2 is “apparently” being worked on in a private GitHub and will be based on LibreELEC 9. Whether that actually happens or not is another question. Your best OpenPHT 4K with HDR and HD audio (TrueHD, DTSHD MA, ATMOS) experience right now is with a good quality S905X device running embedded OpenPHT 1.9

thanks for the info… i was unable to find a windows installer for the 1.9 found alot of the AML info. guess i’ll have to wait with fingers crossed.

You don’t need a windows installer. you need the generic x86 build for a nuc

Disable your sata hard drive, create an installer image to a usb stick, using rufus. Then boot this up & install to a different usb stick.

ohhh.
but crap i just vitalized my HTPC using unraid as the hypervisor and passing trough the GPU

Not sure what that means, you have done a clean install of unraid on the hard disk?

you can still try, the above method, just disable the hard disk in the bios.

sry, lol thats what i get for voice to text. “virtualized”
