Hi there,
I’m having trouble getting my Xbox One S to stream 4K content without stuttering. The files are HEVC and in a MKV container. I have my transcoding set to make my PC hurt, I’m hardwired on both ends, and no one else is using my account. I have Plex premium if that matters. Any ideas of what I can do to make this work without stuttering? My specs are below.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Check your logs for the Speed value, if it drops below 1.0 it would indicate that your CPU isn’t fast enough to keep up with the transcode. See this support page for more info - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201575036-Why-is-my-video-stream-buffering-
Forget about buying your own hardware. Plex Cloud does an outstanding job of transcoding 4K. I uploaded a 65GB 60Mbps 4K UHD Blu-ray rip & this happily plays on all my devices (Roku 3, Roku Ultra, iPhone 6s Plus, Amazon Fire TV 4K, web app on my Retina MacBook Pro etc). It even plays nicely on the iPhone on 3G/4G cellular when away from WiFi. Plex Cloud is a game changer.
