4K Streaming on Apple TV Broken

A while ago I noticed that the AppleTV Plex client is no longer default to streaming locally and is now streaming remotely defaulting to the Internet bandwidth limits setup in the remote access screen settings. Nothing has changed on my network. I can still stream 4K from laptops or tablets but not on Apple TV. When I look at the “Technical Details” screen I see the “Not enough bandwidth for direct play of this item” and it default to the settings I mentioned above.

I have tried everything I could imagine, including clearing authorized devices, rebooting the Synology NAS, reinstall the app on the Apple TV, etc. Nothing fixes this which makes me think it’s a software bug somewhere.

I also so other users mentioning this same problem so has Plex commented on this at all or is there any hope to get this resolved any time soon?

Would you mind sharing some more details, e.g. with which Apple TV model and version of tvOS are you experiencing this, which version of Plex for tvOS do you have on that platform?

Is your Apple TV on the same subnet as your other devices? Some routers will create different subnets for wired connections, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WIFI connections.
Or… as you specifically mention 4K streaming… does the streaming of lower resolution videos still show as “local”?
