Question, why would my tv have a hard time playing F1 direct play and needing to be transcoded when Michael is able to play direct play?

Based on those images my guess is the dv level 10. That’s for high bitrate, high framerate, upto 8k videos. Your device sees that and probably says nope not supported so it transcodes. If you have other level 10 files, check if those play back as expected.
