WHY??? What’s the differences between this two movies? Its almost the same codec? “Audio codec not matter here”.

THANKS!

There could be many reasons. For example:

  1. Samsung TVs cannot direct play TrueHD or dts audio.

  2. Enabling PGS or VOBSUB subtitles will result in a video transcode.

  3. Depending on various conditions, enabling SRT or ASS subtitles may result in a video transcode.

  4. Bandwidth limits.

  5. Playing media with over 30 tracks, video + audio + subtitle, will result in direct streaming and may result in transcoding.

If none of the above fit, then you’ll need to provide additional information.

Start with a screenshot of Plex Dashboard → Now Playing (expanded view).

Also, a set of server logs that capture the playback. Make sure your server is set for debug, not verbose, level logging. Settings → Server_Name → General.

Plex Dashboard example:

It was the PGS subtitles!
Thanks so much for your time! I didn’t know that need transcoding to read PGS subtitles…

answers:

  1. Tv can play dts, not sure about TrueHD
  2. Yeah its was the PGS subtitles
  3. Yes again
  4. No! the movie thats plays direct have more bitrate
  5. No, Im just playing 1 movie with 1 video track and 1/2 audio and subtitles

THANKS AGAIN!
