Hi.
I am using NAS Device WD Mycloud PR 4100 with 4TB Single Hard Drive. MY plex device is Apple TV 4K. The issue is when i play 1080 p and some other old ripped 4k movies . they work fine and smooth. But i play new 4k movies it buffers alot and / or it says “your server is not strong enough to transcode or convert the video and use direct play”. When i change the setting to direct play it doesnt play and when i lower the video quality then it plays a very low quality and kills the point of having 4k video. I called WD helpline and they say that problem is with your plex server. Please help.

Try it with infuse.
I have the Pr4100 as well, and with infuse as a player no issues at all.
thnx and what about VLC player? Also do i have to install infuse in my WD NAS server as well?

I can’t tell you for VLC I haven’t tried it. Infuse as a DTS pass through but you’ll need the pro version, not sure about the cost. No need to install it on the WD, once the app is running just connect it to your plex using your login and password and it will be done. Infuse is like VLC it pretty much read everything and direct play pretty much all files.
