4oD and iplayer plugins

Hi there,

I’d like to offer to fix the 4oD and iplayer plugins if they are no longer being supported, but don’t want to do so if you have updates in the works… let me know either way and I’ll give it a go if you want!

Please please please let Maurj help if support has been dropped!! These two plugins are pivotal to UK users and currently don't work properly!

Thanks :-)

+1

As a UK user I only use 4OD and iPlayer amongst all the plugins available in Plex.

Glad you’ve picked this up maurj, I had a go at it myself but don’t really know enough about plugins to fix it :frowning:

If I could get some time to learn a bit more I’d give you a hand. The iPlayer one looks easier to fix than the 4OD, couldn’t get any joy out of that at all

Actually, 4oD just needs a tweak to the caching code, as that was rewritten a few weeks ago to fix most of the problems. iPlayer needs a complete rewrite from scratch - pretty much none of the old code is reusable any more :frowning: I’ve already spoken to maurj about it & discussed what needs to be done.

Cheers Jam, good news & good luck Maurj :-)

iPlayer is being worked on

Great news!
May I suggest to add support for captions/subtitles?
cheers

iPlayer is well under way - should have something for you soon, have ironed out the main problems now

You deserve a tummy tickle for this!

i think i’ve noticed that 4OD player doesnt work for things that have the ‘restricted access’ you must be over 16 years old thing. in safari it says you need to tick the box once a session which probably makes it a bit tricky.

i could be wrong though it may just randomly not be working

We’ve just released an update to the iPlayer plugin, to make it much more reliable when playing TV programmes. The annoying “pause” bug is no more, and the progress bar should work much better. We’ve also improved the auto-play when first viewing a programme, and improved the detection of a programme’s end.

Some parts of the plugin still don’t work - including non-live radio, genres, formats, a-z, and search - and I’ll be working on an update for the rest of the plugin over the next few weeks, to bring it completely up to date. But for now, today’s update should at least mean that you can use iPlayer in Plex for most of the TV you want to watch

  • maurj.

Many thanks for the work!

Thanks for the update

Working great for me, thanks

Thanks Maurj! Will check it out now

Looking good for me. Nice one, looking forward to the next stage!

Yep that’s working as described, thanks again for your efforts Maurj, look forward to the further functionality

Just popping in to say the work being done on these is really very much appreciated by UK users!

Thanks

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the iPlayer fixes!

There’s more good news - we’ve just released a big update to the iPlayer plugin to fix the remaining issues, including:

  • Preview images now work
  • TV channel and radio channel schedules are fixed and improved
  • Categories and Formats now work
  • Subcategories have been added for categories
  • A-Z now works
  • On-demand radio playback now works
  • Search has been removed

Let us know what you think!
