I’ve been playing around with plexamp, since it seems to be the only acceptable method of audio playback that plex has to offer.

To be quite honest, given that the concept of songs segueing from one to the other predates the concept of digital audio, there was never a time in history that any digital playback not being gapless was ever acceptable. And yet, numerous people have failed miserably in this necessary standard for digital playback. Something that should have NEVER happened in any playback method! Any digital playback method that isn’t gapless, fails to meet the necessary standards for proper playback, and should have never been released!

And yet, here we are, with the standard plex app failing to meet this basic concept, and the fix requiring the use of a limited player.

Don’t get me wrong, I like plexamp - but it isn’t adequate as the only option for proper music playback.

But - I digress.

Anyways, I’m playing around with plexamp with the windows app some more today, since it’s the only acceptable music playback option for plex, and I’m finding that it reduces any multichannel audio to stereo, despite my PC outputting 5.1 via hdmi to my receiver, and playing back any other players with proper 5.1 playback.

Multichannel audio also pre-dates digital audio. There’s simply no excuse for any digital playback to assume or force stereo.

Please advise how to configure plexamp to properly deal with 5.1 multichannel content.

Following up - how do I get 5.1 playback or passthrough using plexamp?
