Playback of 5.1 FLAC audio files in Plexamp results in only 2 channels of the 5.1 channels playing back. This is not a “downmix”; it’s a “no-mix.” Thus, any FLAC 5.1 audio files played in Plexamp result in playback which sounds… bad. Usually you can’t hear the singer’s voice, because the center channel doesn’t come across in Plexamp.
What would be better is to simply disallow the user from playing 5.1 FLAC in Plexamp. “Playback not supported” error message or something.
