5.11.0.466 4k h265 broken shield tv

Plex for Android 5.10.2 4k h265 ok

plex beta 5.11.0.466 The 4k is broken

Nothing works with this version, all the files are transcode

Have you updated to latest pms?

yes , 1.7.2.3878

Can you provide a log from the client?

Private messages

Can you provide me the XML for that file? I’m guessing it’s a 10-bit or HDR source, which PMS cannot transcode. The Shield should be able to direct play the file so I’ll check your logs to see why it’s not.

8bits or 10bits or hdr h265 4k, plex in version 5.11, impossible to read a 4k. It tries to transcode the vidéo,

version 5.10.3 works , direct play ok -> h265 4k , 8bits ,10bits,hdr (June 6)

I do not speak English, not easy to explain

4K represents a single element of the video file: resolution.

Post the full XML of the file.

H265 is only supported in Direct Play. Any other little thing that prevents direct play will result in a transcode. This is why we need to see the entire output of what PMS thinks is in the file.

You can post in your preferred language. Google translate can help me figure it out.

I can confirm the same problem. Play any 4K videos crashes Plex.

I don’t have problems with 4K videos playback

Can you create a 30s-1min sample file? Test if this also crashes the app, then upload this to a sharing site then PM me a link.

I rolled back to 5.10 version since noticed the problem. Even the 2160p remux is playing smoothly now

Just updated to latest version 6.0.1, no problem with 4K videos

@“MovieFan.Plex”

Could you please test the following sample file.
I have been having a few issues playing since a few updates.

Attached screenshot of info when played on my system.

Direct play = auto
Direct stream = on
Pasthrough = auto
Refresh rate switch = on

Thanks

At least try and hide the piracy, jesus.

That naming convention is just awful.

A few posts have poped up in regards to this.

There was another on reddit I seen last night also

For full transparency, Nads PM’d me asking me to remove my comment r.e. his naming convention. I promptly declined to do so.

Thanks for the transparency post :slight_smile:

I wouldn’t worry about it. I see no issue with it seeing as you can’t rip 4K movies yet as AACS 2.0 hasn’t been cracked. The sooner it gets done and integrated into MakeMKV the better for everybody. At least your choice of reference material is excellent. Can’t get over how good the Planet Earth II theme is, Hanz Zimmer nailed it.
